It gathered me up when I needed gathering, taught me that sport need not equal mindless chest-thumping, that my 'enemy' is also my friend and should be respected as such, that we are all brothers and sisters in rugby. It gave me life-long friendships all over the world, and many many of my best memories in life.

Lance Vandecastle, Virginia RFC. He was the embodiment of the spirit of rugby: an enormous, open heart, not limited to his club or club-mates; he was a lion on the pitch, a gentleman off it, beloved by all.
